Epic riding through Namibia's vast landscapes
A mix of gravel and asphalt roads through some of the emptiest, most beautiful country on earth - including the scenic C27 and two crossings of the Namib Desert.
Expect long, flowing gravel through open plains and inselbergs, mountain landscapes in the Kuiseb Canyon, a fun compacted salt road along the Atlantic, and the famous Skeleton Coast. No deep sand, no technical riding - just proper adventure roads with a support vehicle never far behind.
From an ancient canyon to dunes that meet the ocean.
Stand at the rim of the Fish River Canyon as the morning light fills it. Walk among the sun-bleached camelthorn trees of Deadvlei. Ride the Skeleton Coast past a shipwreck. Watch the sunset through the arch at Spitzkoppe. And end each day at a lodge where you'd swear you were the only people on earth.

Africa's magnificent wildlife, from the roadside to the reserve.
We'll encounter various antelope along the way and visit Okonjima - the top-rated game reserve in Namibia, specialising in the conservation of endangered species such as rhino, leopard, cheetah and wild dogs. A guided 4x4 safari is included, with an optional second drive the next morning.
Along the road, expect oryx, ostriches, baboons, giraffe and more - plus flamingos on the lagoons of the coast.
Desert lodges, a night under canvas, and Joe's Beerhouse to bookend it.
We stay in comfortable 3 and 4-star lodges throughout - a tented lodge on a red dune at Hoachanas, a canyon-country lodge among the rocky outcrops, Rostock Ritz perched above the desert, and a boutique B&B in Swakopmund. One night is spent in canvas tents at the foot of Spitzkoppe - a guest favourite, with a lodge upgrade available if you'd rather.
All breakfasts and dinners are included, from buffet dinners in Sesriem to breakfast in the dunes at Sossusvlei - with the first and last nights at Windhoek's legendary Joe's Beerhouse.

Your route, one day at a time.
Arrive at Hosea Kutako International and we'll transfer you to our base. The bikes will be ready to check out and pre-pack, and there's a shopping mall close by for any last-minute things - plus a couple of motorcycle shops with a limited gear selection. In the evening we enjoy our first dinner together at the famous Joe's Beerhouse.
We begin with a short ride east through the hills around Windhoek before turning south onto good gravel. This region is famous for its peculiar parallel lines of ancient red dunes, and we end the day at a tented lodge nestled on a red dune overlooking a pan system that forms part of the Upper Auob Wetlands.
West to connect with a tar road running due south, covering ground to the next waypoint on the Grand Tour of Namibia: the famous Fish River Canyon. The day ends on a lovely gravel road into the heart of the southern Namibian landscapes, to a beautiful lodge set among rocky outcrops where you'd think you were the only people on earth.
We start at the Fish River Canyon lookout for a proper view of this ancient canyon, then ride parallel to it through rocky landscapes before a spectacular gravel road along the banks of the Orange River to Sendelingsdrift - one of our favourite riding sections in Namibia. A tar road takes us back north to Aus, home of Namibia's wild desert horses.
The longest stretch of gravel on the journey. North through expansive open landscapes to the junction town of Helmeringhausen - well known for its delicious Namibian apple pie - then northwest along the scenic C27 with a fuel and lunch stop at Betta Camp. Vast open plains punctuated by striking inselbergs bring us to Sesriem.
An early start to be at the Namib-Naukluft gates by 7am for a guided 4x4 and walking tour into Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. Morning light casts dramatic shadows across some of the tallest dunes in the world, and the sun-bleached camelthorn trees of Deadvlei stand frozen in the white clay pan. After lunch, a short scenic ride into the rugged Gamsberg hills to Rostock Ritz, perched on a rocky outcrop with sweeping desert views.
Through the beautiful mountain landscapes of the Kuiseb Canyon and across the Namib Desert to the coast. The gravel here can be easy or more challenging, depending on when the graders last came through. You'll feel the air cool as the Atlantic approaches, with a fun, smooth run on compacted salt road to Walvis Bay and a final stretch along the breaking waves north to Swakopmund.
Swakopmund is a picturesque, historic coastal town and one of Namibia's top highlights. After yesterday's ride, today is a chance to take a break from the bikes - a great way to spend it is a morning tour of Sandwich Harbour, where towering dunes meet the Atlantic. Back in town there's plenty of time for the restaurants and the town's fascinating sites.
Out along the famous Skeleton Coast past a shipwreck, then east into the desert at Henties Bay. The iconic outline of Spitzkoppe grows more imposing the closer we get - the gravel is mostly good with some sandy patches to watch for. We walk among these beautiful granite rocks and watch the sunset through the famous arch. Tonight is canvas tents at the foot of the rocks - or upgrade to Spitzkoppen Lodge for a more luxurious night.
A meander through vast, arid landscapes showing the stark beauty of the Namib - occasional wildlife, unique desert flora, and terrain that mixes challenging and smooth stretches. Approaching Twyfelfontein, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the scenery shifts to ancient rock formations and prehistoric engravings - the final stretch is a ride amidst geological wonders and millennia-old artworks.
Heading back east on a mix of gravel and tar to Okonjima Game Reserve, which specialises in the conservation of endangered species - rhino, leopard, cheetah, wild dogs and more. We stay at the Plains Camp where the wildlife visits the waterhole, with a guided 4x4 game-viewing safari included this evening.
An optional early-morning game safari (R1,500) and some more time at the waterhole, then an easy tar ride south with time to take in the last of the Namibian landscapes. Back at our base in Windhoek we unpack the bikes and get ready to leave, before a farewell dinner together at Joe's Beerhouse.
There are a number of daily flights from Windhoek's Hosea Kutako Airport (WDH). We'll arrange your transfer for the flight home.

Standard bike: Honda CRF1000 / Transalp 750 / NX500. The shared-room discount applies per room when booking with a travel partner - we don't arrange roommate matching. A 15% deposit secures your spot, refundable up to 60 days before departure. A refundable R18,000 motorcycle damage deposit is required at the start of the tour.
